'The holy God who is in the light As in the darkness And God is all that is there; It's in our kisses. ' (Heinrich Heine: Seraphine VII) A few verses by Heinrich Heine alone have more warmth, but also more philosophical essence and depth than a thousand linear meters of German catheter philosophy combined. Even today - in the aftermath of Börne - Heine is disrespectfully described as a 'contradicting character' and can rightly be considered one of the few 'poet philosophers' in whom stylistic elegance, wit and humor with a deep philosophical perspective and creed form an inseparable whole.
